What are some more questions you should ask yourself about a musical group? |
|
There are several questions we encourage to ask of us and any other musicians you may be considering for your event.
How many years has the group been performing together?
Many groups are "pick up" groups, that is, they do not play together
on a regular basis. They pull together whoever may be available. This
does not make for a tight ensemble.
Does the group appear professional?
Even if you are having a "simple" wedding, you would not want your musicians to behave in a "casual" manner.
Can you trust that the group will dress appropriately?
It should not be too much to ask your musicians to dress formally.
Is there a group manager?
Like any business, there should be one person who manages and
coordinates the music details to include contracting, consultations,
and coordination. You should know who to call for questions, concerns
or advice.
Is the manager friendly and helpful?
There is no excuse for arrogance from your musicians. They should be
willing to help with any of your musical or ceremonial questions
without being condescending. If the group is truly experienced, they
have attended many weddings and receptions. If asked, they should be
able to provide suggestions and advice regarding your special event.
